Mission: The Alu Can Alliance serves as a platform for global manufacturers of aluminum can sheets and fabricators of aluminum beverage cans to accelerate circularity and climate goals.
Coming Soon: Carbon Accounting Standard for Aluminum Beverage CansThe Alu Can Alliance is currently working on the first globally recognized Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) methodology for aluminum cansheet and beverage cans. Developed collaboratively by sheetmakers and canmakers, the methodology will provide a harmonized and transparent approach to PCF calculation and reporting across the aluminum beverage can value chain.
The guidance will support greater consistency, comparability and credibility in carbon footprint reporting, helping the industry demonstrate its decarbonization progress and strengthen the role of aluminum beverage cans in a more circular, low-carbon future. Coming Soon: 2027 Global Aluminum Can Sustainability SummitFollowing the successful Summits in 2022 and 2024, the Global Beverage Can Sustainability Summit will return in 2027, hosted by the Alu Can Alliance. The date and location of the Summit will be announced soon.
The first two Summits helped pave the way for the globally adapted Standardised Recycled Content Guidance for aluminum beverage cans.
The 2027 Summit will bring together leaders from across the aluminum beverage can value chain to discuss the key sustainability priorities shaping the industry. Topics will include the decarbonization of aluminum production, the Industry Carbon Accounting Methodology and Carbon Impact Study, and opportunities to further advance the circularity of aluminum beverage cans.
The Summit will feature senior executives and thought leaders from both within and beyond the aluminum beverage can industry, offering diverse perspectives on the challenges, innovations and opportunities driving the sector towards a more sustainable and circular future.
